Jaquelynn Faass

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Jaquelynn received two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Georgia: one in Art Education, the other in Painting. In her work, she looks to the work of Jenny Saville, Lucian Freud, Camille Pissarro, and Robert Henri for guidance and inspiration. She absorbs herself in the language of the human figure, studying facial expressions and body language throughout her work. She creates images where viewers can reside and further develop a sense of empathy and wonder about the piece of work and themselves. She strives to understand the complexity of her subjects, capturing aspects that are otherwise missed in mundane life within her mark-making. She currently resides and works in Athens, Georgia.
